Christmas Fun!

We had a month filled with excitement in December. We read many versions of Goldilocks and the Three Bears and the Gingerbread Man. We tasted Gingerbread cookies and graphed the part we ate first. The head always wins! Check out the picture of our class graph.

In Math, we studied 3D shapes, symmetry and fractions. The kids did very well learning difficult vocabulary words like cylinder, cube, rectangular prism and sphere.

We loved visiting D.R. Hill Middle for Storytime with Santa this month. Everyone ate cookies and drank milk, listened to stories read by middle school students and got to sit in Santa's lap! We have a picture of every student sitting in Santa's lap for you to see!

Also during December, we had a popcorn and movie party because we collected so many box tops during the Fall semester. We loved watching Junglebook and eating popcorn at the same time!

We had a Winter Celebration on December 16 and everyone dressed in his or her PJ's and watched the Polar Express. We took a class picture of everyone in their PJ's including Mrs. Pittman and Mrs. Marr! We ate pizza and a lot of cookies! Jeanne Brown and Mary Lynn Carroll surprised the teachers with a teacher tote filled with gift cards from our students and their families. What a sweet surprise! Thank you parents and students for your generous gifts!

We wrote letters to Santa and mailed them to the North Pole on December 16. By the next day, Santa typed us a letter and mailed it to our class. I read the letter aloud and it explained the importance of good behavior so that Santa will bring everyone gifts for Christmas. He listed each child by name and how he would work hard to make sure they recieve their presents for Christmas.

On December 17, we had a schoolwide sing-a-long in the cafeteria. We sang fun songs like Must Be Santa and Jingle Bells. The kids danced to Macarena Christmas! Many of the teachers performed and sangs silly songs like I want a Hippotamus for Christmas.

We loved the month of December and look forward to learning how to subtract and make predictions during the month of January and... celebrate the 100th day of school!
